Julia, I am so sorry that you felt, that I, asking you for a pre-approval before I inconvenienced a seller to show their home was being rude. As I attempted to explain to you, having a pre-approval will allow you to see homes by showing, both the agent that you are wanting to work with and the seller that is having to prep their home for your showing (no easy feat, just ask a seller) and vacate it for the duration of your visit, that you are in fact, qualified to purchase their home and not simply ‘looking’. Many buyers ‘think’ they’re qualified and then discover with interest changes they no longer qualify for the price point. If it is easy, as you stated, for you to get a pre-approval from your credit union, I suggest you do so. I am a professional and do not show homes to unapproved buyers. The agents whose listings I show, understand that when I bring a buyer to their listing, it is worth showing because they are validated buyers. I think you also need to understand that Realtors do not make money showing homes, they make money selling them. For you to assume that a Realtor should simply take you to see a home just because you want to look at it, is bold. Again, I apologize if you thought that I was being rude.
